The History of Mr Polly by H. G. Wells (Second Idea)

Second idea became the 'Final Piece'

Developing the Second Idea

Through all the ideas that I had during the development of this project, I start to think in a different way, keeping the ideas, and changing them in a way to express my work. Photography is one of my hobbies. I use photographic to keep images, moments and action of the citizen and it's reactions to the city where it lives.
So in this 'Second idea' I have been using images of my hobby to create a strong book cover. Reflecting the 'First Idea' I start to look to create a scene that could get closer to my drawings, actually playing around with my camera. Finding characters and places that could express some ideas and my sketches.

The History of Mr Polly by H. G. Wells (First Idea)

Under this image is all the development and ideas to get in this result. Check it out!!

The back of the book

The back of the book is a painting that had done a year ago. I used this image because it relates to the end of the book, where he is seen the sunset and really happy.

The History of Mr Polly

The last idea was influenced by one of my class mates, Adriana Terzievova, which was making the cover for Alice in Wonderland.
Through hers idea I could develop my cover look. I have develop a small set with Mr Polly character and a window. Trying different angles and using different lights, I could create a scene, which relates Mr Polly and his disappointment with life.

Developing a illusion idea Second step

In the second step I made a cover book with a mirror paper which has a nice reflection and reflects the face of Mr Polly.

Developing a illusion idea First step

I wanted to use a character as the strong point of the cover book and during my research, I found really interesting to use a mirror to reflect Mr Polly to anybody or to everybody. In the first step I had used a silver paper as the mirror, which could work because it does not give you a nice reflection.

Sketches and ideas

Those are the ideas which I had been sketching to make the cover for one of H. G. Wells book, the history of Mr Polly.
I had read the book and had wrote the strong point of it, so I could have different ideas to develop it and make a stunning and contemporary cover look.
